The duties of the General Director of NPO Mashinostroyeniya have been assumed by the First Deputy Head of the enterprise, Alexander Dergachev. The plant produces hypersonic Zircon missiles.
Dergachev also concurrently serves as the General Designer of NPO. He took office after the death of the head of the enterprise, Alexander Leonov
It is worth recalling that NPO Mashinostroyeniya also produces Oniks cruise missiles and the Bastion coastal missile system.
Zircon is capable of reaching speeds of up to 9 Mach and has a range of up to 1000 km. Military analyst Yuri Knutov emphasized that it is impossible to shoot down the missile with existing air defense systems.
Leonov previously reported that in 2025, NPO Mashinostroyeniya increased the production volume of Zircons.
