St. Petersburg enterprise JSC "VNIIR-Progress" has manufactured and shipped the third set of electrical equipment for the modernized floating power unit of project 20871. The station is designed to supply power to the Baimskaya ore zone in Chukotka.
The delivery included main distribution devices for 10.5 kV, shore power receiving panels, power output units, switching panels for the emergency generator, equipment for the reactor control system, and uninterruptible power supplies with a voltage of 110 V.
The floating power unit project was developed by the "Iceberg" design bureau and "Nevskoe PKB". The client is FSUE "Atomflot" — an enterprise of the Rosatom state corporation. The floating unit will become part of a unified onshore energy complex: it will dock with coastal hydraulic structures and transmit up to 106 MW of electricity to onshore grids.
The 20871 series power units are specifically designed to operate in the harsh climatic conditions of the Far North and the Far East. Their launch will ensure a stable power supply to remote mining enterprises without the construction of extensive onshore power lines.
The floating power unit is being assembled at the production site according to schedule. After the completion of installation and commissioning, the station will be delivered to its permanent operating location in the Chukchi Sea.
