Work on the creation of the Russian-Belarusian regional aircraft LMS-192 "Osvey" will be completed in the next two years. This was announced by the State Secretary of the Union State, Sergey Glazyev.
According to him, there is everything necessary for the production of a regional aircraft. Glazyev admitted that he does not understand the reasons for the shift in the release dates of "Osvey".
To be honest, I don't understand why the deadlines are being shifted. Prototypes were in the Soviet Union and in Russia, scientific and technical projects and developments have been going on for about 20 years. The work is underway. They should be completed in the next couple of years. There is a lot of groundwork there.
The head of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus, Dmitry Pantus, stated that "Osvey" is planned to be created in 2026. However, Rosaviatsiya then indicated in its forecast for the production of aviation equipment that the certification of LMS-192 should be expected in the period from 2027 to 2029. Moreover, it was originally planned to build 158 aircraft by 2030.
Andrey Tuchin, chief engineer of plant No. 558 in Baranovichi, explained that "Osvey" stalled due to the fact that the enterprise needs to expand production. Three new buildings will be put into operation in stages at the Belarusian site, each subsequent one larger than the other.
