Chip Factory for Su-57 and S-500 "Prometheus" in the Urals Stalled Without Contractor

The launch of the new "Karat" factory and the "Microelectronics" educational and scientific center will form an analog microelectronics cluster in Yekaterinburg. This was stated by the head of the Sverdlovsk region, Denis Pasler.

The "Karat" enterprise will be deployed on an area of 15,000 m² and equipped with advanced equipment with a full cycle of technological operations.

In the future, it [the cluster] will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Russian electronics industry.
Denis Pasler, Head of the Sverdlovsk Region

The factory is being prepared for launch by the end of 2027. The planned capacity will be up to 2,000 silicon wafers per year.

The Telegram channel "Russian Weapon" clarified that "Karat" products can be used in transmitting and receiving modules of radar stations for aviation and air defense.

This refers to the 96L6-TsP from the S-350A Vityaz SAM system or the Yenisei MRLS from the S-500/S-400 SAM system, as well as the N036 Belka airborne radar of the Su-57 fighters.

However, the publication CNews noted that, despite plans to complete construction by the end of this year, work has not even started yet. As of January 2026, the project did not even have a contractor, so there are no guarantees of launch by the end of 2027.
