Kamikaze Drones "Geran" Taught to Deceive Air Defense

Strike drones are equipped with mock-ups of R-60 missiles

Footage of a Russian kamikaze drone "Geran" with a mock-up of a Soviet R-60 "air-to-air" missile attached to the fuselage has appeared online. The ammunition was bolted directly to the fuselage.

Upon closer inspection, it is clear that the mock-up looks very rough, but from a distance of tens or hundreds of meters, it is difficult to make out this "missile".

In such conditions, the impression is created that the "Geran" is armed for real.

Presumably, mock-ups on UAVs are installed for psychological pressure on the crews of airplanes and helicopters.

Air defense forces historian Yuri Knutov explained that the R-60 "air-to-air" missiles for "Geran" are equipped with a thermal homing head, so they are capable of hitting helicopters or fighters.

Alexander Stepanov, an employee of the Institute of Law and National Security of the RANEPA, noted the possibility of installing R-74M2 missiles from the Su-57 fighter on the "Geran".
