UZGA to Build a Workshop the Size of Three Football Fields for the Production of LMS-901 "Baikal"

The plant will open a full cycle of engine parts and launch a vacuum casting section

The area of the new foundry on the territory of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) will be 17 thousand m². We are talking about a full-fledged engineering and production complex of a full cycle for the manufacture of all types of cast parts of aircraft engines — from gas turbine to piston engines.

The total area of the new complex is comparable to three football fields, UZGA clarified. The plant's engineers will begin to model the entire technological chain of production — from the assembly of the model block with elements of the gating system to the pouring of the mold and crystallization of the alloy.

The key area will be the vacuum casting section of heat-resistant alloys. Here, the production of castings with three types of structure, important for the manufacture of blades — equiaxed, directional and single-crystal, will be opened.

For this, the complex will receive modern equipment, including a high-performance directional crystallization furnace of the PMP-2M pass-through type, UZGA added.

The plant's key projects are the new light aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" and the turboprop regional "Ladoga". The timing of aircraft certification is unknown. Rosaviatsiya even did not mention the LMS-901 in its plans, but then the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov promised to complete work on the aircraft by the end of 2026.
