Satellite for photographing the Earth even through clouds is being developed in Russia

Scientists want to combine space systems and unmanned technologies into a single infrastructure

Even dense clouds and poor visibility will soon cease to be a problem for photographing the Earth from space. In Russia, a satellite is being developed that will be able to receive data in such conditions — and provide it along with information from drones and other systems.

A mock-up of the radar satellite has already been created. It was developed by the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), Gazprom SPKA and the Izhevsk Radio Plant. This was announced by Andrey Ivanov, Vice-Rector for Research at MAI.

According to him, the satellite is designed for remote sensing of the Earth in cloudy and poor visibility conditions.

In general, a lot has been done, and there are even more plans.

The development is being carried out as part of the "Seamless Operating Environment" project. Its task is to combine space systems and unmanned technologies into a single infrastructure with common communication and data exchange protocols.

As a result, the user will be able to simply send a request and receive the necessary information — either from a satellite, or from a drone, or from several sources at once. This data will be processed by special software, including using artificial intelligence.
