Military reconnaissance personnel actively use the Orlan-10 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle. Only a few minutes pass between target detection and its destruction. Lieutenant Ural Khabirov spoke about this.
The lieutenant stated that his crew tries to work unnoticed in any positions and uses camouflage.
To fully deploy the equipment and launch the "bird" into the sky, no more than 15 minutes are required, but even that time is enough to expose the unit's position.
The crew consists of 6 fighters:
- crew commander
- 2 operators who control the UAV
- 2 payload operators responsible for video from the cameras
- a technician for drone maintenance
The fixed-wing drone has proven itself well as a reconnaissance platform. Thanks to its stabilized electro-optical station, it provides a clear image.
Specifications of the Orlan-10 drone:
- Weight — 14 kg
- Wingspan — more than 3 m
- Payload — up to 5 kg
- Speed — up to 130 km/h
- Flight altitude — 5 km
The tasks of the combat crew change daily. Often this is aerial reconnaissance or working in tandem with the Molniya strike drone. The Orlan-10 finds the target, and the second unmanned aircraft flies out to destroy it.
To reduce risks, the Orlan-10 crew carries out missions with the support of radio-electronic reconnaissance specialists. The servicemen accompany the Russian drone and can intercept the signal of an enemy drone.
