Russia is preparing a replacement for the "Soyuz": a new spacecraft is planned to be launched in 2028

Before the start of flights, the device must undergo parachute tests, for which a model with a high degree of similarity to the real system is already being created

A completely new Russian manned spacecraft, which in the future should replace the "Soyuz", is planned to be launched in 2028. While there is still time before real flights, the project is entering an important stage: parachute tests are ahead. It is on them that they will check how the ship behaves during landing and how reliably its systems work.

According to Sergey Krikalev, Deputy General Director of Roscosmos, a model of the ship is already being created for testing, which will be similar to the real device. The next stage is drops from a helicopter: this is how specialists will check how the parachutes open, how the structure works and how reliably the landing takes place.

The new Russian manned spacecraft is being developed to deliver people and cargo to orbital stations. In the future, it should replace the ships of the "Soyuz" series. According to previously published data, the new device will be able to stay up to a year as part of an orbital station in low Earth orbit and up to 180 days as part of a lunar orbit station.

Without docking with the station, the ship will be able to stay in independent flight for up to 30 days in Earth orbit and up to 10 days in the version for lunar flights.
