Engines from Il-76MD Became Turbines with a Resource of 5 Million Hours and Power Plants

GTD-6RM units based on D-30KU have been produced since 2000

GTD-6RM engines for the energy industry have cumulatively logged more than 5 million hours during industrial operation. More than 120 gas turbines are used to drive electric generators as part of small and medium-sized thermal power plants throughout Russia, according to the United Engine Corporation (UEC).

GTD-6RM with a capacity of 6 MW are used as part of GTA-6RM gas turbine power units. They have been produced since 2000.

The conversion turbine was developed on the basis of the D-30KU/KP aircraft engine, which equips Il-76MD, A-50, or Il-78 aircraft, UEC reminded.

Depending on the operating characteristics of the power unit, the engine is manufactured in various versions - for operation on gaseous or liquid fuel.

The engine is capable of operating flawlessly for 120 thousand hours, and its time between overhauls is 30 thousand hours.
