Crews of the Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems (BRC) destroyed a detachment of enemy ships during exercises that took place in the Baltic Sea. This was reported in the press service of the fleet.
During the event, servicemen of the missile formation of the Baltic Fleet marched on combat vehicles to the areas of firing positions, where the Bal and Bastion missile systems were quickly deployed.
During the maneuvers, the missilemen checked the operability of all systems and carried out the loading and unloading of weapons of missile systems. Having received target designations, they carried out electronic launches at mock targets.
The press service of the Baltic Fleet stated that the Bal and Bastion BRCs (both on MZKT chassis) are designed to destroy ships of all types. The first coastal complex is equipped with Kh-35 missiles with a range of up to 120 km and Kh-35U — up to 260 km. The second one is equipped with P-800 "Onyx" missiles with a range of up to 300 km with a combined flight path (combines various sections of movement, including gliding and marching).
The BRC "Bal" was developed at the Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering in Moscow. It was adopted into service in 2008. "Bastion" was created by specialists of NPO Mashinostroyenia in Reutov. The complex has been operated in the Russian Armed Forces since 2010.
