MC-21 is only a third ready, but Rosaviatsiya expects the aircraft by the end of the year

The agency needs to check 250 pieces of supporting documentation for the aircraft

The new medium-range aircraft MC-21-310 has completed only 30% of the planned flight program before certification, according to the head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov.

He clarified that the aircraft needs to perform about 200 flights, and 250 pieces of supporting documentation will also need to be checked.

We plan to complete the work with colleagues by the end of this year.

Economists Dmitry Kuvalin and Pyotr Lavrinenko from the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences warned that the economics of producing the first import-substituted MC-21-310 aircraft do not match the price of the aircraft. They called the constant "shifting of deadlines to the right" the most telling consequence of this situation.

Earlier it became known that in order to speed up the production of the MC-21, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant deployed a digital model of the aircraft. The company has built a unified information space where design documentation, technological processes, and training materials for crews work in one system.
