New plant for low-speed marine engines opened in Russia

Power plants will begin to be assembled at the Proletarsky plant in St. Petersburg

Low-speed engines for large-capacity vessels will begin to be assembled at the Proletarsky plant in St. Petersburg. This was announced by the head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Andrey Puchkov.

The choice of the enterprise is due to its proximity to the Northern Shipyard and transport accessibility, as well as the availability of competencies of the production personnel.

We are not just localizing assembly, but restoring the full cycle of creating low-speed engines, including the most complex items that were previously purchased abroad.

In addition, the Proletarsky plant has the appropriate infrastructure for organizing stands and conducting MOD tests, Puchkov added.

Earlier it became known that the cost of building ships in Russia is three times higher than in China.
