The problem with the PD-8 engine thrust has been solved: the certification date has been announced

The power unit will receive the main type document in April 2026

Certification of the latest PD-8 aircraft engine is scheduled for April 2026. This is stated in the materials of Rosaviatsia, presented at the final board of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

The power plant will become the base for the short-haul SJ-100 airliner and the Be-200 amphibians — in the long term.

In December 2025, a source of Business Online in the aviation industry stated that PD-8 did not produce the necessary thrust for flights with a full cabin. This problem seems to have been solved. Recall that the thrust of the PD-8 at maximum take-off mode is 8,056 kgf.

PD-8 certification was originally planned for November 2025, but was postponed to the first quarter of 2026.

Rostec showed unique footage of the process of manufacturing PD-8 parts for the SJ-100 aircraft. The video captured the moment of 3D printing of the oil sump, an important element of the oil system of the power plant.
