Tor-M1 SAM system thwarted a mass raid of PD-2 reconnaissance drones

The crew of the Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile system thwarted a mass raid of PD-2 strike drones in the armed conflict zone. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The crew detected the approach of drones, took the targets for tracking and launched anti-aircraft guided missiles. The destruction of targets was monitored using a special visual control system inside the vehicle.

Tor-M1 is a Russian short-range anti-aircraft missile system designed to engage aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and drones. The complex detects targets at a range of up to 30 km and engages them at a range of up to 15 km. The accuracy of combat use allows the crew to destroy up to eight air targets with one ammunition load. The combat vehicle is built on the GM-5955.15-01 tracked chassis manufactured by the Mytishchi Machine-Building Plant (MMZ, part of the Kalashnikov concern).

The PD-2 UAV of Ukrainian production is a multi-purpose reconnaissance and strike UAV of aircraft type.

The Ministry of Defense noted that the modern radar equipment of the Tor-M1 allows operators to easily and accurately detect air targets in its area of responsibility and effectively destroy them.
