An important stage has started at the construction site of power unit No. 3 of the Leningrad NPP-2 (Sosnovy Bor): workers have begun reinforcing the foundation of the turbine building. This was reported in the press service of Rosenergoatom (part of Rosatom).
The foundation must withstand everything: weight loads, vibrations, and seismic impacts.
Nuclear scientists are reinforcing the foundation slab, special tunnels for cables and pipelines, and installing embedded parts for equipment. This will require almost 5 thousand tons of reinforcement and over 20 thousand m³ of concrete. The work area is larger than a football field.
Rosenergoatom emphasized that the installation will last throughout the spring. Next, workers will begin erecting walls and prepare the structure for the installation of the turbine.
Leningrad NPP-2 is an operating energy facility. Unit No. 1 was connected to the system in 2018, unit No. 2 two years later. Currently, work is actively underway on unit No. 3. The general contractor for the construction is the Titan-2 holding.
