India Needs Russian Train Manufacturing Technologies: Foreign Engineers Visit Metrovagonmash Plant

A delegation from Kolkata may purchase equipment for the subway

A delegation from India visited the Mytishchi-based Metrovagonmash plant (part of Transmashholding), the company reported. The visit of engineers from Kolkata is an important step in the development of cooperation: the subway of one of the largest cities in India is exploring the possibility of purchasing Russian equipment and technologies.

The guests were shown advanced Russian developments in the design and organization of rail equipment production, automation methods, digitalization, and quality control systems. Indian specialists highly appreciated the technological equipment and production culture at the enterprise, the holding's press service reported.

Previously, engineers from India had already undergone training at the Corporate University of Transmashholding. This project is considered one of the largest examples of partnership between Russia and India in the railway industry.

In 2023, a consortium led by Transmashholding won a tender for the development, production, and service of 1920 cars for Vande Bharat long-distance trains. The contract is for 35 years.
