STM and "Akron Holding" created a mobile welder for the HSR Moscow - St. Petersburg

Special equipment is needed for the construction of the high-speed railway Moscow — St. Petersburg. STM and GC "Akron Holding" presented a new welding complex. It can be transported directly along the road under construction.

The developers took the MSR 120.01A U1 welding head and made it mobile. All equipment was mounted on the "Kalugaputmash" railcar. Now there is no need to transport rails to stationary bases — welding can be done directly at the track laying site.

The new electronic system controls the process and offers two upsetting modes. It takes less than 110 seconds to connect a P65 rail joint. The machine makes up to 20 high-quality connections per hour.

Tests have confirmed the reliability of the technology. Ten control joints were tested for strength. The macrostructure of the fractures remained clean, no leaks or defects were found. The hardness of the metal meets the standard.

The next step is integration into a prototype. The complex will be tested at Russian Railways test sites in conditions close to real operation.
