The FAS of Russia identified signs of violations of advertising legislation in the placement of advertising on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Telegram and WhatsApp — in connection with the current restrictions on access to these platforms, the antimonopoly agency told TASS. Liability is borne by both the advertiser and the advertising distributor.
The FAS explained that the distribution of advertising on resources to which access is restricted or whose activities have been recognized as undesirable in Russia is not permitted.
The antimonopoly agency recommended that market participants analyze the content posted on such platforms and bring their activities into compliance with the requirements of the law.
Earlier, the FAS reported that placing advertising in Telegram is a violation of the law, since measures to restrict access are being applied to the platform. Roskomnadzor supported the FAS position, calling its explanations "exhaustive," Kommersant reports.
