The BelAZ family of mining equipment has been expanded — the plant has begun testing the new heavy BelAZ-78542 bulldozer. The 50-ton machine is designed to operate in the toughest conditions of mines and quarries, the company said.
The new model is equipped with the most powerful engine in the lineup — 550 horsepower (404 kW). The blade capacity is 10 cubic meters with a width of 4.7 meters, tractive effort reaches 350 kN, and maximum speed is 35 km/h. The 715-liter fuel tank is enough for an entire shift without refueling.
The main feature is an in-house developed smart transmission with an innovative clutch that precisely regulates traction and eliminates wheel slip, protecting the tires from wear. The machine is equipped with the IMS intelligent monitoring system, which displays all operating parameters on the operator's screen in real time. According to the manufacturer, the cab features ergonomic design, excellent visibility, and modern protection systems.
After the completion of factory tests, the bulldozer will be checked in real conditions — in a quarry, where the declared specifications will be confirmed or adjusted.
