Russia's main battle tank T-90M "Proryv" set a record for firing range using target designation — 10 km. The combat vehicle engaged along a high-arching trajectory like an artillery gun.
The tank crew raised the "Proryv" gun together with the hull of the combat vehicle, said T-90M commander Aleksandr.
We had to weld and jack up the tank. We welded triangles to reach the target. We operated at over 10 km.
The combat vehicle is now practically not used for direct fire because of strike drones. However, even at a concealed firing position, the "Proryv" cannot do without protection from unmanned aerial vehicles.
An FPV came into the area of the gun, nothing was damaged. We were driving back — two more came in. One hit the gunner, the other the commander — everyone is fine. We pulled back.
The tank's survivability is also increased by its standard explosive reactive armor. The T-90 fire-control system aims the gun at the target in a matter of seconds, ensuring interchangeability between the gunner and the commander.
To improve firing accuracy at long distances, the T-90M systems were modernized — the updated fire-control system takes meteorological conditions (wind, temperature) and the distance to the target into account more accurately.
