The Ka-29 helicopter has been adapted for hunting uncrewed boats in the Black Sea

Crews are firing unguided rockets and cannons at point-blank range despite the risk of attacks

The Russian Black Sea Fleet continues to use unconventional means to combat enemy uncrewed boats (BECs). These now include the Ka-29TB helicopter, which fires direct-aim unguided S-8 aircraft rockets and 23 mm rounds from UPK-23-250 gun pods, the Telegram channel "Voennyi Osvedomitel" reports.

Such tactics carry serious risks: as in the case of Su-30SM and Be-12 strikes with unguided bombs at point-blank range, there is a high probability of encountering a BEC equipped with anti-aircraft missiles.

The Ka-29 is a Soviet shipborne transport-assault helicopter with coaxial main rotors, developed at the N. I. Kamov Design Bureau in the early 1980s on the basis of the Ka-27. It is intended for landing marine infantry units from ships, providing them with fire support, as well as transporting various cargoes.

Earlier it was reported that Russian engineers are completing the creation of a shipborne version of a strike kamikaze drone capable of launching directly from the deck. The details of the development are still being kept secret. However, it is known that the drone is planned to be used against light boats, motor boats and uncrewed boats, as well as to support marine infantry during landings on shore.
