Snow, weekend and surge pricing: taxi fares will rise in the next three days

Average trip time will increase by 30%

In the next three days, taxi rides in "Yandex Go" may become longer and more expensive. There are two reasons: snowfall and a long weekend. This was announced by the press service of the service.

According to the company's forecast, poor visibility and drifts will increase the average travel time by 30%, and even more on busy routes — to the center, between residential areas and to airports. Since the fare includes payment for minutes en route, almost half of the total check increase will come from the increase in trip duration.

An additional factor is the shortage of cars. On long weekends, there are 10–15% fewer drivers on the line than on ordinary days: many are resting with their families. At popular points — parks, skating rinks, shopping centers and train stations — the number of people wishing to leave will exceed the number of available cars, which will trigger a surge pricing.

Peak demand is expected from Friday evening to 21:00, on Saturday afternoon, as well as on Monday evening — when citizens will be returning home from the region.

The service recommends going outside a few minutes before the end of a theatrical performance or during the film credits, allowing more time for trips to the airport and train station, and checking the demand and the number of cars nearby in the application before ordering — the button is located in the upper left corner of the screen.

Earlier, "Yandex Taxi" reported an increase in fares in Moscow on the evening of February 20 due to snowfall.
