Drifting on Ice: Two New Hovercraft Launched in St. Petersburg

The Vikhr-1 and Vikhr-2 hovercraft are designed for 18 passengers and equipped with an enclosed cabin

The shipping company Neva Travel has added two new Vikhr hovercraft to its fleet. Each is designed for 18 passengers, allowing more visitors and city residents to see winter St. Petersburg from the water.

The new hovercraft are equipped with enclosed cabins that protect against wind and precipitation. The increased capacity does not prevent them from preserving the atmosphere of a "winter adventure".

The route covers not only the central Neva with its main landmarks, but also the waters of the Gulf of Finland.

Earlier, it was reported that two Sputnik-20 project hovercraft were built in Nizhny Novgorod. They are designed to carry up to 20 passengers and are distinguished by high cross-country capability. Thanks to in-house developed rotary-centrifugal blowers, the vessels can travel through shallow water, marshy terrain, and over ice. This makes the Sputnik-20 in demand in regions with challenging natural conditions.
