In 2025, Demikhovsky Engineering Plant (DMZ) repaired 103 wheelsets for EG2Tv Ivolga electric trains, including 48 motor and 55 non-motor ones. The project was implemented with the support of the Industrial Development Fund of the Russian Federation and Transmashholding, with an investment of 28.6 million rubles.
For the company, mastering the technology of repairing wheelsets for Ivolga became an important strategic decision. DMZ gained the ability to conduct a full inspection of the units manufactured by Tver Carriage Works. This complemented the experience already gained since 2018 in repairing its own electric trains and subway cars. The production capacity of the site has increased to 300 units annually.
The technological cycle includes dry ice cleaning, dismantling of pairs with induction equipment, non-destructive testing for hidden defects, replacement of unsuitable elements, and restoration of suitable components. The final stages include balancing on a specialized stand, running-in according to Russian Railways (OAO \"RZD\") methods, painting, and delivery to the customer. The plant's non-destructive testing laboratory has been accredited, and the personnel have undergone mandatory certification.
According to Vladimir Chekalin, General Director of DMZ, it is planned to repair 96 motor and 140 non-motor wheelsets for Ivolga in 2026. At the same time, the company is mastering the repair of gearboxes for first-generation electric trains and is preparing for a full inspection of Ivolga 4.0 wheelsets with a gearbox of its own design.
