The basic configuration of the train is 8 cars, and they will be able to carry up to 460 passengers, TASS reports. The design provides for the possibility of coupling two trains, and it is planned to organize four classes of service inside.

Earlier, Russian Railways concluded a contract with Ural Locomotives for 12 billion rubles for the manufacture, certification and supply of the first two such electric trains.

The construction of the Moscow — St. Petersburg high-speed railway with a length of about 700 km is being carried out within the framework of the national project "Efficient Transport System". The line will pass through six regions where 30 million people live. It is expected that by 2030 the passenger traffic between the capitals will increase to 23 million people per year. Design and construction are planned for 2024–2028, with the commissioning of the highway in 2028.
