The mobile launcher for the medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) Oreshnik is mounted on the chassis from the Yars mobile ground missile system (PGRK). This was reported by military analyst, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, Igor Korotchenko.
According to him, Russia's main task is to have a guaranteed retaliatory strike potential through the PGRK.
In particular, we are talking about the Yars PGRK. And, by the way, the Oreshnik is mounted on the same chassis. It will also be invulnerable in positional areas.
Korotchenko suggested that after the termination of the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms, Russia should expand the production of the Oreshnik missile system.
Official information about the chassis of the Oreshnik launchers has not yet been received. It is known that the Yars is based on the eight-axle MZKT-79221 platform.
However, military experts, analyzing footage from Belarus in March 2025, suggested that in the case of the MRBM, we are talking about a more compact six-axle MZKT-79291 chassis, which was previously used for the Rubezh complex.
