A video has appeared online showing the red-hot barrel of a T-72B3 tank's 125mm gun after firing, as seen through a thermal imaging sight. The recording was made in the fighting compartment using the video monitoring device of the "Sosna-U" sight of another tank of the same type.
The footage shows how the barrel of the main gun glows with a bright thermal contour after a series of shots. The filming took place during the crew's combat operations.
The footage represents the temperature load on the artillery system during intense firing.
Currently, thermal imaging sights are installed on almost all modern Russian tanks. This equipment is received by the Т-72Б3, Т-80БВМ, and modernized Т-62М.
The image from the gunner's sight is duplicated on the commander's screen, who can take control of the main armament if necessary.
For example, the Т-90М "Proryv" tank is equipped with two independent thermal imaging channels, which increases the accuracy of using the 125mm gun, as well as the 7.62mm and 12.7mm coaxial machine guns.
