Fraud in the sale of RD-33 engine parts from a MiG-29 fighter jet uncovered in Russia

An attempt to illegally export the unit was stopped by the FSB in the Leningrad region

In St. Petersburg, a native of the Lviv region put up for sale parts of the RD-33 engine from a MiG-29 fighter. The crime was stopped by employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Leningrad region, the Telegram channel "78" reports.

The agency stated that the engines are under export control and belong to military and dual-use products.

The FSB has opened a criminal case under the article on the illegal export or transfer of goods, technologies, weapons or military equipment, the investigation is ongoing.

RD-33 engines are still produced at the V. V. Chernyshev Machine-Building Enterprise in Moscow, as well as at ODK-Klimov in St. Petersburg.

Earlier, in June 2025, Russia also stopped smuggling of spare parts for Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters worth more than 400 million rubles. These components would be enough to repair at least four such machines.
