The modernized Mi-34M1 helicopter with the VK-650V engine will fill a high-demand niche in which only foreign models had previously been represented in Russia. This was stated by the press service of Rostec.
The state corporation noted that the Mi-34M1 features high maneuverability, ease of piloting and maintenance, and can be used for passenger transport, monitoring, and flight training.
The helicopter is based on the VK-650V powerplant, which has been tested and is ready for serial production, as well as modern domestically produced onboard systems. The aircraft is now successfully continuing flight tests.
In the Mi-34M1 niche, American helicopters of the Robinson and Bell brands, as well as Franco-German Airbus helicopters, had previously dominated.
Rostec will show the Mi-34M1 at the upcoming NAIS 2026 exhibition, which will take place on February 4–5 at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center in Moscow.
