Moscow authorities explained how 3D printing helps the development of medicine

The city's healthcare system is being improved through the use of additive technologies

Moscow authorities are paying attention to the development of the healthcare system. They are introducing various advanced methods into it, including additive technologies.

Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maksim Liksutov said that 3D printing is used in various fields.

Moscow holds leading positions not only in Russia, but also internationally in this field. Capital-based companies produce 3D printers and consumables, and actively apply the latest technologies to create medical products.

The capital's authorities provide various support measures to businesses, including high-tech enterprises. Thus, based at Technopolis Moscow, there are shared-use centers offering services and 3D equipment for small-batch production.

Moscow Government Minister Anatoly Garbuzov believes that additive technologies are radically changing the city's healthcare system.

Major universities in the country, biotechnology developers, and manufacturers of implants and functional prostheses are all engaged in this area. Modern three-dimensional printing helps quickly and accurately manufacture a product and avoid its rejection by the body, taking into account the patient's individual characteristics.

Laboratories have been created in the city, including at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. There, specialists create biocompatible implants.

In addition, Endoprint, a resident of the Kalibr technopark, has developed individual implants that are used to treat patients with complex cases.

3D printing is also actively used by the Russian developer Motorika, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ and the Skolkovo technopark. Thanks to additive technologies, the company is able to create complex geometric shapes with high anatomical precision.
