At Bauman Moscow State Technical University, a 3D model of a Soviet lunar craft was developed that is as close as possible to the original displayed in the museum.
A team of the university's students and faculty actively participated in the project, which is aimed at the virtualization of a lunar base. They noted the absence of a three-dimensional model of the Soviet lunar craft and decided to correct this omission. As Pavel Shibaev, a member of the team, explained, the students and faculty sought to reproduce the details as accurately as possible, which is especially important when creating a model for virtual reality.
Using a laser level and photogrammetry methods, the specialists were able to create a model identical to the original, down to the smallest details. Some elements were recreated with precision comparable to real spare parts. However, they also had to face certain technical limitations, which forced them to reduce the level of detail in some places.
The team plans to create an even more detailed model.
