China is transferring to Russia specialized equipment, tools, and advanced devices used for the production of the Oreshnik medium-range hypersonic ballistic missiles (MRBMs). This claim was made by the British newspaper The Telegraph.
The source claims that the total value of the Chinese technologies and equipment amounts to at least $10.3 billion.
Chinese computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools play a key role in expanding Russian missile production, the journalists noted.
In addition, the PRC allegedly sent Russia ball bearings important for the aviation industry, as well as piezoelectric crystals used in radar systems and electronic warfare systems, analysts claim.
Additional supplies included measuring instruments for weapons testing and telescopic sights.
The head of the Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, Aleksandr Mikhailov, explained that there is only one system in the world capable of shooting down the Oreshnik — the S-500 Prometey. It is in service with the Russian military.
Military expert of the Institute of Law and National Security of RANEPA, Aleksandr Stepanov, added that the warheads of the MRBM are twice as fast as the PAC-3 interceptors used in the American Patriot system.
