Work on Power Unit No. 5 includes maintenance of key equipment

The 2026 repair campaign has begun at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The work is being carried out under the supervision of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which ensures its transparency and compliance with international nuclear safety standards, the plant reported.

Repairs have begun on the main and auxiliary equipment of the second channels of the safety systems of Power Unit No. 5. The work is being carried out in the reactor and turbine compartments, as well as in the equipment-owning shops. The main part of the activities is being performed by the contractor Atomenergoremont, while the rest is being handled by the plant personnel.

For the first time, specialized third-party organizations have been brought in for particularly complex tasks — they will carry out the overhaul of two safety system diesel generators.

The repair campaign includes maintenance and major overhaul of key equipment, including safety systems, as well as a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the power units to prepare for extending their service life. The work will continue throughout 2026.

Special attention is being paid to the entire repair cycle — from personnel training and incoming inspection of materials to documentation preparation and equipment handover.
