Program to rescue people from sinking ships developed by scientists of CSRI MF

The system shows flooded compartments and safe evacuation routes

Scientists from the Central Research and Design Institute of the Marine Fleet (CSRI MF) have created a domestic program designed to rescue passengers during the flooding of "ro-ro" type vessels, which are capable of transporting both people and wheeled vehicles. The innovative system allows you to determine which compartments of the vessel are under water, and also suggests ways for safe evacuation.

The software package is called StabEdit type 4. It calculates the emergency stability of the vessel, that is, its ability to maintain balance. A special feature of the program is a new function that allows you to determine safe evacuation routes for people in case of emergency.

The StabEdit CSRI MF system can be used in both civil and military shipbuilding, thereby increasing the survivability of ships and strengthening Russia's technological independence from foreign developments.

In addition to indicating the level of flooding and safe routes for people, the program calculates the probability of reaching the nearest port in the event of an accident. This is especially critical for "ro-ro" vessels with long open cargo decks, which make stability difficult when a significant amount of water enters.

The CSRI MF program works both online and offline. It connects to various vessel sensors, such as the level in tanks and loading systems, displaying information on computer screens. In online mode, the program automatically calculates the chances of the vessel's survival, while in offline mode, the crew must enter the data manually, which also allows the necessary calculations to be performed.
