Specialists in the field of military modeling presented the results of a computer simulator developed on the basis of artificial intelligence. According to the data obtained, one of the six medium-range individual guidance warheads of the "Hazel" ballistic missile, equipped with a tactical nuclear charge with a capacity of 0.2–0.3 kilotons, is capable of causing critical damage to a large surface ship, such as a missile cruiser.
The simulation showed that the radius of guaranteed destruction of panel structures reaches 1–1.5 km, while for brick buildings it does not exceed 1 km. In the case of use against a marine target, even a single hit of a hypersonic unit ensures almost complete disabling of all key systems of the ship, including the power plant, fire control systems and air defense equipment.
The high approach speed and guidance accuracy of the warhead significantly reduce the likelihood of its interception by modern missile defense systems, which makes "Hazel" an especially effective means of destroying protected targets.
