Russian Troops to Receive Upgraded PPK-20 with Support for 7N21 Armor-Piercing Cartridge

New-generation weapon combines the compactness and combat qualities of the AK-12 assault rifle

The Kalashnikov Concern has begun fulfilling its obligations under the 2026 state contract for the production of 9-mm PPK-20 submachine guns, refined based on the combat experience of the Russian armed forces. The updated version of the weapon has improved tactical, technical, and ergonomic characteristics, as well as increased production efficiency.

During the modernization, the developers expanded the weapon's compatibility with various types of 9×19 mm caliber cartridges. The main ammunition is now the high-impulse 7N21 armor-piercing cartridge, but the PPK-20 retains the ability to use most standard domestic and foreign cartridges of this caliber.

The weapon combines the proven reliability of the AK series assault rifles with compactness and modern ergonomics. Key features include a right-folding stock with length adjustment and a two-sided fire mode selector, which increases ease of use for both right- and left-handed users.
