Aviation expert Roman Gusarov stated that Russia has all the necessary technologies to develop and produce long-range passenger aircraft. According to him, the domestic aviation industry already has solutions today that allow flights across the country — for example, from Kaliningrad to Magadan — on one aircraft.
These are Il-96-300 aircraft. Yes, there are very few of them in operation, and they are not present on commercial lines, but after a while we will still solve this problem.
Despite the extremely limited number of these aircraft in commercial operation, Gusarov noted, they are technically capable of providing non-stop flights over long distances.
The expert emphasized that only Boeing and Airbus are engaged in the production of long-range aircraft in the world, but Russia retains technological sovereignty and remains one of the leaders in this field. The question is not the lack of competence, but the time and strategic priorities — the task of restoring a full-fledged fleet of domestic long-range aircraft will be solved in the near future.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia will need up to 10 years to completely replace the civil aircraft fleet with domestic production.
