Newest Lightning UAVs with speeds up to 270 km/h created in Russia

Rostec will showcase new products for the first time at the UMEX exhibition in the UAE

New Lightning unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been developed in Russia, Rostec reported. The state corporation will showcase the new products at the UMEX unmanned technology exhibition in the United Arab Emirates.

The universal complexes can be used to solve various tasks, from express reconnaissance and cargo delivery to supporting search and rescue operations and border protection.

There are three models in the lineup. Lightning 2 is designed for delivering small cargo and medical supplies, assessing the situation in emergency situations, and providing practical training for operators. The drone is capable of carrying a load of up to 6 kg, while its range reaches almost 50 km.

Lightning P is useful for monitoring, controlling, and surveying the area. The device has the maximum flight speed in the entire line — up to 270 km/h.

Lightning R was created for round-the-clock multi-purpose monitoring in various climatic conditions. It is equipped with a video camera with 30x hybrid zoom on a gyroscopic suspension, which allows for high-quality observation while maneuvering.

The International Unmanned Systems Exhibition UMEX and SimTEX 2026 will be held in Abu Dhabi from January 20 to 22. The venue will bring together global leaders in the development and application of unmanned and autonomous technologies.
