US May Gain Access to Russia's Su-30 in Venezuela - Expert Raises Alarm

Military Expert Mikhailov: Export Versions are Weaker Than Standard Ones from a Technical Point of View

The US may get access to Russia's military secrets in Venezuela if they gain access to the weapons supplied to the Bolivarian Republic. The alarming prospect was assessed by the head of the Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, military expert Alexander Mikhailov.

He recalled that Russia has supported Venezuela in military-technical terms for many years. Now, valuable information about the structure of domestic developments may be obtained by third countries.

But we must understand: it is no coincidence that export versions of our complexes are supplied abroad. Yes, the S-400 system was supplied to several states. And we have not yet sold the S-500 system to anyone. Although, of course, China and India are looking at it for obvious reasons. But still, the capabilities of export versions of weapons are somewhat lower from a military-technical point of view.

Mikhailov specified that Venezuela's arsenal includes fourth-generation Su-30 fighters and modernized "Pechora" complexes, as well as radars manufactured by the "Almaz-Antey" concern. "The First Technical" talked about them in a large review article.

In addition, the republic's army has about five thousand units of Igla-S man-portable air defense systems. However, not a single shot was fired from them either.
