In 2025, traffic cameras of the Moscow Center for Traffic Management (TsODD) recorded over 41 million traffic violations, which is 6% less than in 2024. This was reported to TASS by Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Maxim Liksutov.
More than 3,700 photo and video recording systems are operating in the city, capable of recognizing 67 types of violations. Cameras are placed in accident-prone areas and where drivers most often violate traffic rules.
According to Liksutov, every eighth accident with injuries is related to speeding, while an increase in the average speed by only 1 km/h increases the risk of a fatal accident by 4–5%.
The systems are effective: the number of accidents in their installation locations is reduced by up to 30%. With the improvement of the road situation, cameras are redistributed to areas with increased accident rates — up to 20% of the systems change location annually for optimal control.
