"Vladimir Nosov" Destroys Drones and BECs in the Baltic Sea

Project 21980 anti-sabotage boat practiced anti-drone and anti-mine defense during exercises

The crew of the special anti-sabotage boat "Vladimir Nosov" of the Baltic Fleet completed a set of combat training tasks in the waters of the Baltic Sea. As part of the exercises, actions were practiced to detect and destroy unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned boats, as well as other small-sized surface targets.

According to the plan of the tactical exercise, surveillance equipment detected several unmanned surface vehicles of a mock enemy in the patrol area. The boat's crew successfully engaged them with fire from a large-caliber machine gun.

In parallel, the crew of "Vladimir Nosov" conducted a reconnaissance search for underwater mines. For these purposes, a sonar station and a remotely operated underwater vehicle "Marlin" were used, which made it possible to demonstrate the high efficiency of modern mine countermeasures.

The boat"Vladimir Nosov" belongs to Project 21980 "Grachonok", developed by the Vympel Design Bureau, a subsidiary of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC). The vessel is designed to counter underwater sabotage forces and assets, as well as to support the actions of combat swimmers near ship bases and on approaches to them. With a displacement of about 60 tons, the boat is capable of operating autonomously at sea for up to five days, with a cruising range of up to 200 nautical miles.
