From December 29, 2025, to January 4, 2026, over 18 thousand new passenger cars, almost 1.5 thousand light commercial vehicles, and more than 600 trucks were registered in Russia. This high volume of sales is explained by the fact that the initial days of the new year partially coincided with working days. However, the following week showed an anti-record in sales.
Thus, from January 5 to 12 of the new year, only 13 thousand passenger cars, just over 1 thousand light commercial vehicles, and less than 200 trucks were registered. The decline in sales is attributed not only to the holidays but also to heavy snowfalls in various regions of the country - potential buyers were not in the mood to buy new cars.
There was not a single week with such a low volume last year. The main reason is that all 7 days were holidays. And the end of the week in many regions of Russia was marked by unprecedented snowfall. Potential buyers were clearly not in the mood for new cars.
Nevertheless, almost all automotive companies have already raised prices by 2-3% since the beginning of the year. As Sergey Tselikov noted, this is clearly not the last increase.
