The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has presented a new project introducing adjustments to the rules for conducting exams for driving vehicles and obtaining driver's licenses. The changes affect several key aspects.
The list of reasons for which candidates may be denied admission to exams has been expanded. The use of communication devices and various electronic devices, including photo and video equipment, is added to the existing violations.
It is proposed to introduce new conditions for annulling previously issued driver's licenses. If, during a routine medical examination, professional drivers (for example, taxi drivers or long-distance drivers) show signs of somatic diseases, they will be sent for an unscheduled examination. Failure to appear will be grounds for invalidating the driver's license.
It is proposed to reduce the time for scheduling a practical exam. Previously, it was six months after successfully passing the theoretical exam, but now it is planned to be reduced to 60 days.
The project also provides for simplifying the provision of medical certificates: paper documents will not be needed if information about the driver's health is available in the unified register of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health. At the moment, the project is at the stage of public discussion.
