A radical way to reduce the price of the MC-21 and SJ-100 has been found

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is engaging alternative suppliers

To reduce the cost of the new Russian airliners MC-21 and SJ-100, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is engaging alternative suppliers. This was stated by the head of the ministry, Anton Alikhanov.

According to him, this concerns optimizing expenses and introducing new management methods.

In particular, alternative suppliers are being engaged to fix directive prices and reduce manufacturing labor intensity.

It is worth noting that in the summer of 2025, the cost of one MC-21-310 was estimated at 7.6 billion rubles. At the same time, in the summer of 2023, the State Transport Leasing Company, excluding subsidies from the National Wealth Fund (NWF), estimated the aircraft at 4.3-4.6 billion rubles.

Assembly of serial MC-21 and SJ-100 aircraft is already underway in the workshops of the Komsomolsk and Irkutsk aviation plants. The airliners will be delivered to airlines after certification tests are completed and the test results are approved by Rosaviatsiya.

Earlier it became known that the Irkutsk aviation plant is actively preparing for the serial production of the MC-21 with fully Russian systems and components. The enterprise is currently assembling 20 aircraft at once. Meanwhile, the MC-21 certification program has already reached almost 70%.
