Geran-2 kamikaze drones have for the first time in history received Igla MANPADS

The missile in its launch container was mounted directly on the UAV fuselage

Russian Geran-2 kamikaze drones have for the first time been equipped with Igla man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS). Footage has appeared online.

The video shows that the missile in its standard transport-launch container was mounted on the drone's fuselage. The method of its launch and guidance toward the target is not specified.

Analysts from the Telegram channel "Voennaya khronika" clarified that at the moment, Gerans are being equipped with MANPADS not on a mass scale, but in limited batches for specific tasks.

For example, this solution is used to accompany waves of strike drones, as well as for operations in areas carefully covered by air-defense systems.

If the experiment proves successful, the consequences will be not so much tactical as economic.

Earlier, Geran-2 kamikaze drones were improved again for more effective combat missions. A photograph of a drone with an infrared spotlight to blind the sensors of anti-aircraft FPV interceptor drones appeared online.
