Author of AI-generated Tiger Attack Fake in Primorye May Face Fine of Up to 100,000 Rubles

Ministry of Natural Resources передало в полицию video created using a neural network

The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Primorsky Territory has announced the transfer to the police of information about a fake video featuring a tiger allegedly attacking a man.

The video, which previously appeared on social networks, showed an Amur tiger attacking a man while he was cleaning a car in the village of Luchegorsk. The ministry noted that the video was generated by a neural network. Among the signs of the fake are a shovel passing through the tiger, blurriness and atypical smoothness of the contours, as well as too smooth movements of the animals and the person.

Employees of the department sent an appeal to law enforcement agencies to identify the author of the video and take action. He faces administrative liability under the article on the dissemination of deliberately unreliable socially significant information. For individuals, the fine is from 30 to 100 thousand rubles, for officials — from 60 to 200 thousand, for legal entities — from 200 to 500 thousand.

The ministry stressed that the publication of the video misled people and created a false sense of danger. Earlier, the video caused panic among residents of Luchegorsk, but no tiger attacks were recorded.
