324 Million Packets Per Second: Sberbank Survived a Record Cyberattack in 2025

The attack aimed to paralyze the bank's website

In 2025, Sberbank faced a record DDoS attack: its peak reached 324 million packets per second, which is 69% higher than the previous record in 2023. This was announced by Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the bank's Board, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, every three minutes one of the Russian companies experiences attacks from cybercriminals, and Sber remains one of the main targets. The most powerful attack in 2025 was aimed at paralyzing the bank's website, and the attackers' servers were located abroad.

Kuznetsov noted that the dynamics of cyber threats are changing: the number of DDoS attacks has decreased, but the number of scans of the corporate perimeter for vulnerabilities has increased.

At the same time, phishing attacks on Sber employees have almost doubled, but their effectiveness remains zero thanks to regular training programs and staff testing.
