Bilibino NPP will retain its status as a nuclear facility, but without generation.

The first power unit of the station was shut down in 2018. Spent nuclear fuel was placed in a holding pool.

Second, the third and fourth power units were completed in 2025. Fuel will be unloaded from them within two years.

The region's energy supply is now provided by the floating nuclear thermal power plant "Akademik Lomonosov".
