Video: Light helicopter Mi-34M1 with Russian engine VK-650V makes its first test flight

В Ростехе заявляют, что полностью отечественная машина станет заменой зарубежным лёгким вертолётам

The light multi-purpose helicopter Mi-34M1 with a domestic gas turbine engine VK-650V has taken to the air for the first time. This was announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and Rostec. The tests are being carried out as part of the import substitution program with the participation of the Russian Helicopters holding and the United Engine Corporation (UEC), which are part of the Rostec State Corporation.

Mi-34M1 is a deeply modernized version of the Mi-34S family helicopter. The new model is equipped with fully Russian systems, including the VK-650V engine, the first domestic power unit for light helicopters with a take-off weight of up to 4 tons. The engine was developed in a short time and is ready for mass production. It is equipped with a modern digital automatic control system that increases the reliability and efficiency of flights.

During the first test flight, specialists checked the stability and controllability of the machine, and also determined the loads on the main units in horizontal flight and during turns.

According to Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostec, the Mi-34M1 is distinguished by its high maneuverability and ease of piloting and maintenance. The helicopter is designed for passenger transportation, training and sports flights, as well as monitoring territories.

Rostec stated that the Mi-34M1 will occupy a niche where foreign models have so far dominated. Their operation in the current environment has become expensive and unsafe due to the lack of official maintenance. The new helicopter will allow Russia to completely replace imported machines of this class.
